“Memory with rain”

When exploring memories and emotions tied to rain, my childhood spent in the ancient town of Hangzhou remains most vivid.

In the springtime of southern China, the town often experiences gentle showers, saturating the air with the moisture of the lake and rain.

Soft morning mist delicately envelops the surroundings, as if wrapping everything in a tranquil embrace. Ancient buildings emerge faintly through the mist, transporting one through time and immersing them in a serene and peaceful ambiance, akin to a classical ink painting.

When I began working on this piece, I wanted to capture the nostalgic essence of rain and the emotions it evokes.

To immerse myself fully, I made a trip back to an ancient town in Hangzhou, hoping to reconnect with the memories that had lingered from my childhood.

Walking along the cobblestone paths, I observed the way the rain dripped softly from the eaves of old buildings and how the mist hung low over the lake, blurring the boundaries between past and present.

I took photographs, recorded the sound of rain, and did plein air sketches, trying to absorb the tranquil yet melancholic atmosphere.
